Most people do not realize that they can travel in affordable ways by simply volunteering a little time abroad. There are organizations that will enable you to travel abroad, work for accommodations or other benefits, and get to enjoy your travels. These programs have a minimum time frame that you have to be willing to volunteer your time and they do look for certain skills in the people that show up.

For instance, in Chile, you can volunteer your time and work with animals for two weeks minimum. You are not required to leave at two weeks, but you are encouraged to show up willing to stay for that amount of time. Their primary focus is conservation work, animal care, and research.

In some cases, you will be working with animals. In others, you may be asked to teach locals how to speak English.
